Russia: Crocus City Hall near Moscow in aftermath of shooting
(Moscow, Russia) — Gunmen burst into a concert hall in Moscow on Friday night and shot and killed over 140 people attending a rock concert. A huge fire engulfed the concert hall, with some people reportedly trapped. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Russian authorities say they have 11 people in custody, who they claim were headed for the Ukraine border. Ukrainian leaders say Russian President Vladimir Putin staged the attack to gain support for the ongoing war with Ukraine.
The White House says it continues to monitor the events. They had reportedly warned Russian officials two weeks ago that there was chatter of an imminent attack in Russia, but Russian authorities ignored the warnings.
