Rex Heuermann
(Gilgo Beach, NY) — The estranged wife of the alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer, appears to be defending her ex today. Asa Ellerup says Rex Heuermann is not capable of the alleged crimes he’s accused of carrying out. She also says she’ll give Heuermann the benefit of the doubt, and listen to all of the evidence and withhold judgment until the end of trial. She filed for divorce days after Heuermann was arrested last summer. He denies wrongdoing after being charged with the murders of four sex workers.
Court documents reveal that as recent as 2021, Heuermann used burner phones and emails to contact women online. Prosecutors say his family was out of town when he allegedly committed the murders. Detectives say Heuermann used many devices to search the status of the Gilgo Beach murder investigation, information on victims and their families, and how to wipe or erase data from electronics.
