(Hollywood, CA) — The top prize for Hollywood’s biggest night went to “Oppenheimer.” The atomic bomb drama won Best Picture at the 2024 Academy Awards. “Oppenheimer” led the pack with 13 nominations, winning seven Oscars.

Emma Stone won for her work in “Poor Things.” It is Stone’s second Best Actress Oscar. Her first win was for 2017’s “La La Land.” Cillian Murphy won his first-ever Oscar. The Irish actor nabbed Best Actor for his title role in “Oppenheimer.” Robert Downey Jr. won a Best Supporting Actor trophy for his role as Lewis Strauss in “Oppenheimer.” Da’Vine Joy Randolph was the winner for Best Supporting Actress for “The Holdovers.”

The Oscars broadcast was delayed by about five minutes after some Palestinian protestors were able to push through a chain link fence and get near the red carpet before police intervened.  Oscar host Jimmy Kimmel made mention of the delay during his monologue, but did not detail what had taken place.
