(New York, NY) — Two staff members at Origins High in Brooklyn says they are tired of being attacked for being Jewish. History teacher Danielle Kaminsky says the school has done nothing to make her feel safe. She says students have called her a dirty Jew, drawn swastikas on her desk, and have told her they are going to kill her family. Kaminsky say school leaders and the Department of Education have not addressed the threats or actions against her. She says a few Jewish students who attended the high school left after they were harassed.
The Acting Principal, Dara Kammerman released a statement claiming Orgins High does not tolerate any form of discrimination. But some students say she has lost control. Other say students have been harassed at the school for being gay too, with little or no punishment. Kaminsky says she wants to know why her own union, the United Federation of Teachers has failed to come to her rescue.
