(New York, NY) — NYPD cops are are searching for two people involved in two separate attacks down below on the subways Sunday night. A 64-year-old man was kicked so hard from behind, that he fell onto the tracks at Penn Station last night around 5 pm. Riders pulled him to safety. The stranger who kicked him raced off. A short time later, at the 169th Street station a 17-year-old woman was punched numerous times in the face after having words with a fellow rider. The woman who punched her left the station before police arrived.
MTA Chairman Janno Lieber says the subway attacks are unnerving for riders, but he says the system is safe for the 4 million New Yorkers who use it everyday. Lieber says there are more cops patrolling stations and aboard subways. The MTA chief says soon there will be surveillance cameras in every subway car.
