(Mineola, NY) – — New York Attorney General Letitia James is demanding Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman drop his ban on transgender student athletes playing on female teams. Blakeman signed  an executive order banning students who are boys, but who identify as girls from competing in women’s leagues at county facilities.  James is demanding Blakeman reverse the order in five days.  She calls Blakeman’s move illegal and transphobic. Blakeman says boys who identify as transgender competing against girls is completely unfair. There have been reports of some girls sustaining injuries during athletic competition with transgender boys in other states. There are no reports of transgender athletes trying to join girls sports teams on Long Island.
