(New York, NY) — Mayor Adams says he had it up to here with migrants who commit crimes, and now he wants to rewrite some of the the sanctuary city rules, so New York can hand over bad news migrants to ICE to deport them. The City Council says there is no way they will allow the Mayor to work with ICE, and they will stop him from doing so. Recent migrants to the city have allegedly been involved in a number of high profile crimes, including a store shooting and an attack on cops in Times Square. Mayor Adams told reporters on Tuesday that the city needs to modify the sanctuary city laws, so if a migrant commits a violent act, they will be turned over to ICE agents to be sent back to their home countries.

More than 170,000 migrants have come to New York over the last two years. The city continues to search for places to house them all. On Tuesday, firefighters found that up to 80 migrants were sleeping in shifts in, in the the basement of a Queens furniture store. Neighbors alerted the authorities. The migrants were bussed to shelters. It’s not clear how long they had been living in the basement, or if the city knows where they all came from.
