(Paris) – There’s reportedly “budding signs of optimism” emerging from Paris, France, where negotiations continue in a bid to reach a “truce” agreement between Israel and Hamas. A source informed Reuters that after the head of Israeli intelligence met with meditators from the US, Qatar, and Egypt, there was a positive breakthrough of some kind. This is all aimed at pausing fighting and establishing a window for the freeing of hostages.
Also, Hamas is reportedly interested in striking a deal before Israeli Defense Forces attack the city of Rafah, in Gaza.
USA Today has reported that an anonymous Western diplomat told them both sides are willing to make concessions in a bid to reach a ceasefire. Apparently, things got moving in a good direction Friday when the Israeli War Cabinet agreed to send a delegation to Paris.
Israeli officials have made it clear they won’t agree to a pause in fighting unless clear framework is established that will get the hostages home. These include people who were taken back on October 7 of last year, when Hamas launched terrorist attacks in southern Israel — touching off this latest war.
According to the latest numbers from both sides, an estimates 30,000 people have been killed and 82,000 injured since the start of the war.
