Woah, How Much for One Pizza? NY Tops the List

syndication-the-enquirer-19

A one-ingredient pie will cost you $33.65 in New York on average -- more than any of the other 50 states.

(New York, NY) – If there’s nothing more American than apple pie, there are few things more New York City than a pizza pie. But much like everything else these days, pizza is getting more expensive, as inflation pushes up the cost of food across the entire US landscape. At least pizza is pretty cheap. Or it was, once upon a time. According to a new survey, you’ll open your wallet wider in New York City than in any other spot when it comes to buying a pie.

Real estate website Clever conducted a study on the country’s most expensive pizza, and it turns out New Yorkers pay $33.65 on average for a pie — higher than anywhere else in the US. That’s for a one-ingredient pie, so major toppings and elaborate creations aren’t really part of the equation here. Pizza, like dough in the oven, is seeing its price rise — even beyond the pace of inflation. Experts say while inflation is advancing at a near 3.5% clip, pizza prices are rising 4% for pizza.
