(Washington, DC) — House Republicans voted Tuesday night to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise returned to Washington from cancer treatments, to give the GOP the extra vote they need to get the impeachment over the finish line, 214-to-213 win. Mayorkas is the first cabinet official to be impeached in more than 150 years. Republicans have criticized Mayorkas over his handling of the southern border. The DHS Secretary will most likely face acquittal in the Senate, where Democrats are in the majority.
