(Tel Aviv, Israel) — Israeli forces made a surprise rescue of two hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza. Members of the elite group, Shin Bet, along with the Israeli navy seals stormed an apartment in Rafah early Monday morning, killing the captors. They rescued 60-year-old Fernando Herman and 70-year-old Luis Har. The two were put aboard a helicopter back to Israel. They are said to be in good health.
Eyewitnesses in Gaza say the the Israeli air force hit Rafah hard this morning, trying to divert attention from the building where the hostages were being held. An IDF spokesperson says soldiers made their way into the building overnight, blowing up a door to the apartment with an explosive, and then killing three captors inside.
