(UNDATED) — Multiple reports say Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel will step down from her post later this month, after the South Carolina primary. Former President Donald Trump reportedly is expected to back North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley as McDaniel’s replacement.
The New York Times says that McDaniel told former President Trump of her plans Tuesday night. McDaniel has faced scrutiny in recent months from the Trump camp about fundraising.
