(New York, NY) – You could say dinner was “cut short” at a Pizza Hut in Canada last week. And after the restaurant posted a sign out front to explain the kitchen had to close, the entire situation went viral. That’s because the sign, affixed to the front door, read the dining room was forced to close “due to unforeseen circumcisions.”
The hilarious and yet also unfortunate typo circulated widely on social media. And it brought out the best in some of the tabloids. The New York Post noted “no tips required at this pizza shop.” Someone on X admitted it laid waste to the notion that there is no such thing as a perfect typo. George Takei, the actor and Star Trek legend, admitted “typos are my worst enema.”
After blaming the mistake on autocorrect, the restaurant decided to have some fun with the situation, and launch a marketing effort. On Facebook, the Timmins, Ontario eatery said “In light of recent CIRCUMSTANCES, for a limited time when you buy one regular priced medium or large pizza for only $5. We at Pizza Hut appreciate all our loyal customers!!! And how you’re having fun with our little mishap.”
So it’s move over, mohel — bring on the mozzarella.
