N.J. soldier killed in Jordan drone attack

syndication-the-daily-record-2

(Willingboro, N.J.) — One of the three U.S. soldiers killed in the drone strike in Jordan over the weekend is from New Jersey. He’s a 46-year-old army reservist, Sergeant William Rivers from Willingboro. Rivers was killed, along with two other soldiers from same Georgia reserve unit. He enlisted in the Army Reserve in 2011 as an electrician and served in Iraq for nine months in 2018.

Governor Phil Murphy will sign an executive order later this week lowering flags to half-staff in River’s honor. Senator Cory Booker, released a statement saying Rivers served with courage, honor, and a deep sense of duty.

River’s awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
