(New York, NY) — Bed bugs are making a comeback in New York City. Orkin, a pest control company now ranks New York City as the second-worst in the nation for bed bugs. The company says it came up with their numbers based on the infestations incidents they tackled at homes and businesses across the country last year.
Chicago topped Orkin’s list as the worst for bedbugs. It’s the fourth year in a row the “Windy City” tops the list. New York City ranks second, followed by Philadelphia in third, Cleveland fourth, Los Angeles fifth and Detroit sixth.
Bed bugs are typically 3/16 inch long, red to dark brown in color and are mostly nocturnal insects that come out of hiding to take blood meals from sleeping humans. They can sometimes cling to items such as luggage, purses and other personal belongings to spread to other areas.
