(New York, NY) — Former New York city councilmember Paul Vallone died of a heart attack Saturday night. He was 56. Vallone represented northeast Queens in the City Council from 2014 to 2021. He was currently serving as deputy commissioner of the city’s Department of Veterans Services. Friends say Vallone suffered the fatal heart attack at his home. He was rushed to the hospital, but could not be revived.
Vallone comes from a well known family of public servants. His grandfather, Charles Vallone, was a judge in Queens. His father, Peter Vallone, was City Council speaker. Vallone’s brother, Peter Jr., also was a City Council member before becoming a judge.
Mayor Adams released a statement Sunday calling Vallone a true public servant and a very proud New Yorker.
