(New York, NY) — Six brothels in Corona, Queens were raided and then shut down Thursday. Neighbors had been complaining for months that women were walking the streets, then bringing men back to the parlors for sex for money. The women working the locations were not arrested. Neither were the owners of the brothels. People in the neighborhood worry the brothels will just reopen in new locations unless arrests are made.
Mayor Adams watched on as the raids took place. He says the women, many who have been trafficked will be given help finding jobs. He says the city will now go after other brothels across the five boroughs in a bid to improve the quality of life in those neighborhoods.
