Subway Violence
(New York, NY) –The MTA is rolling out brand new subway cars. The new cars allow riders to walk the train’s entire length. There are no interior doors. The doorways onto the trains are wider. Straphangers were part of some the test rides over the last few months. They gave the new cars mixed reviews. The open trains are used by the the London Underground and the Paris Métro,
Subway advocates say the wider doorways are great for riders with disabilities, but they also worry the wider entrances will lead to overcrowding on trains. The trains will initially take the tracks on the A and C Lines.
