(Scotch Plains, NJ) – The discovery of a gun at a high school in New Jersey led to shelter-in-place orders and lockdowns on Monday. Schools in both Scotch Plains and Fanwood were put on lockdown for a period of time. That’s because a gun was found at nearby Union Catholic High School. RLS Media reports a student brought the gun to class — potentially because they were the victim of bullying.
A heavy police presence was observed throughout the day at the school, located at 1600 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains. All Westfield Public Schools were placed on lockdown through the end of the day.
