(New York, NY) — A wild scene at the American Legion post in Whitestone, Queens last night, when pro-Palestinian protestors disrupted a campaign event for 3rd District Republican candidate, Mazi Pilip. The event, that was being hosted by a local Republican club was billed as a get out the rally for Pilip. She is in a tight contest to win the seat in a special election on February 13th. Just as Pilip began to speak to her supporters, pro- Palestinian demonstrators stood up and started yelling at her. The protestors had mixed themselves in with the people attending the rally. Pilip was shouted down by the demonstrators, who were eventually were shown the door. No arrests have been made.
The race is to replace ousted New York Congressman George Santos. Democrat Tom Suozzi is going up against Republican Mazi Pilip to fill the vacant 3rd Congressional District seat which covers parts of Queens and Nassau County. The two have agreed to one debate on February 8th.
