(Riverhead, NY) – Rex Heuermann, the alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer, has been charged in the murder of a fourth woman.  The new charges involve 25-year-old Maureen Brainard-Barnes, whose body was found on Gilgo Beach back in 2010 along with three others — Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Lynn Costello.

All the women were sex workers, collectively known as the Gilgo Beach Four. Heuermann lived in Massapequa Park, not far from where the bodies were found. He’s already plead not guilty to killing Barthelemy, Waterman, and Costello. He had been considered a prime suspect in the fourth woman’s death, but prosecutors say they didn’t have enough evidence to charge him until now. In July, Heuermann was arrested near his Manhattan office, where he worked as an architect.
