(New York, NY) — Curfews could be put in place for migrants living in city shelters across the five boroughs. That after neighbors near a city run Queens migrant shelter say they have been approached by migrants begging for food, clothes and money. City lawmakers say they have fielded complaints about migrant begging from all over the big apple. In some cases. migrants have been going door to door asking for clothes. Queens Councilwoman Joann Ariola, says there is a 10PM curfew in place at homeless shelters, and she says maybe the same should be in place for migrant ones too.
Migrants have complained about the condition of some shelters, including the tent city at Floyd Bennett field in Brooklyn. There are reports that tuberculosis is spreading in the tent city.
