Motorists exit the Tuckahoe Road exit on the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers, as the parkway was shut down for flooding, Jan. 10, 2024.

(New York, NY) — There was some wild weather overnight, both high winds and some pounding rain. Around two inches of rain fell in Central Park.  Streets across the tri-state are flooded, trees are down and around 35,000 have no power. The utility companies say they brought workers in from out of state on Monday and Tuesday to help rewire homes and businesses.

City Hall was so worried about the wind gusts last night, that they evacuated all 2,000 migrants living in a tent city at Floyd Bennett field. The migrant families were sent to James Madison High School in Midwood, Brooklyn for the night. Students who attend the school have been told that classes today will be all remote

Now that the storm has moved out, many in North Jersey are watching the rivers again, worried that they will spill over their banks and flood their towns in the coming days.
