(New York, NY) — Leaders at the Lubavitch World Headquarters in Brooklyn, say it was a group of extremist students that built a tunnel under their building, and then fought with cops on Monday when they were told the tunnel would be filled in with cement. Police were called in to deal with the students who refused to leave the tunnel so workers could pour cement into it. The students then allegedly started shoving officers, tossing their desks and throwing prayer books around the synagogue. Nine of them, between the ages of 19 and 21 were cuffed and hauled out of the 770 Eastern Parkway building. They were arrested, and charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.
