UNDATED –We could see winds gusts reaching as high as 70 mph in some spots on Long Island as a major winter rain storm moves across the tri state area. A state of emergency is in effect in New Jersey and Suffolk County Long Island.  Many areas could see power outages from down trees and wires. Flooding along snow packed Rivers and streams North and West of New York City  is a major concern with 2-4 inches of rain expected.

The MTA is taking extra steps to avoid subway flooding during the  storm.   City officials are also concerned about flooding on the Highways.
