(Washington, DC) — United Airlines says it found loose bolts during inspections of its 737 Max 9 fleet. United said that these findings “will be remedied by our Tech Ops team to safely return the aircraft to service.” The Federal Aviation Administration is ordering the temporary grounding of nearly 200 Boeing 737 Max 9 planes after a window seat blew out during a flight.
The agency grounding the fleet after a section of the fuselage blew out on an Alaska Airlines flight shortly after take-off on Friday. No major injuries were reported.
174 passengers and six crew members were on board the plane. Pilots made a safe emergency landing in Portland, Oregon.
Pressure was sucked from the cabin, however seats next to the blown out window were fortunately not occupied. Federal officials say the crew is to be commended for landing the plane safely.
