UPTON, NY — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter storm watch for the New York City tristate area.
The storm has been tracking across the country and is expected to redevelop off the Northeast coast on Saturday.Â
Forecasters say locations north and west of the city could see between 5 to 8 inches of snow. However the city and the coast will see mostly rain with maybe one inch of snow in central park.Â
New York City Emergency Management issuing a weather alert for Saturday and Sunday.Â
Rain along the coast could change back to a period of snow Sunday morning.
Meantime, the storm could cause twelve foot waves along the Jersey shore, causing damage to the dunes, especially in South Jersey.
