(Queens, NY) – Pro-Palestinian protesters once again attempted to make problems for air travelers at JFK Airport, this time on New Year’s Day. 77 WABC’s Bob Brown caught up with one passenger.
The group “Within our Lifetime” organized the event, which included protesters driving cars as well as people on foot. Dozens of cars participated, waiving Palestinian flags and clogging up highways in Queens leading to JFK.
At one point the NYPD restricted access to the AirTrain and travelers were forced to show boarding passes in order to proceed. Cops also used social media in a bid to warn passengers and urge them to allow for extra time when heading to JFK. The protest kicked off at JFK International but eventually moved to LaGuardia Airport, while demonstrators also showed up outside of the Manhattan headquarters of El Al, an Israeli airline and flag carrier.
