(New York, NY) — Officials will be testing out the confetti today that will come down on revelers celebrating New Year’s Eve in Times Square. The three thousand pounds of confetti will be hand tossed from above as the clock strikes midnight to bring in the New Year. The confetti includes thousands of hand written wishes from the Wishing Wall in Times Square. In years past, crews testing the confetti clock wind speeds and whether to toss the confetti up in the air, or throw it down. When it’s warm, heat from the pavement below can make the confetti rise back up into the air.

People from all over the world will be flocking to Times Square. The event on Sunday will feature live performances by Flo Rida, Paul Anka, Jelly Roll and more.  On Saturday, the famous New Year’s Eve ball will get a test run.  On Sunday night, Mayor Eric Adams will push the button to send the ball down a pole to bring in the New Year in front of cheering revelers.
