(Rochester, NY) — A hiker is dead following a fall at Minnewaska State Park Preserve. Police say a woman was hiking with her husband on Beacon Hill Trail in the town of Rochester, when she slipped and fell 70 feet. Police say the two were taking photos at the edge of a cliff when she lost her balance. State Police say the couple were here on vacation from Singapore.
The husband called 911. First responders raced to the scene. A New York State Police aviation unit was able to help locate the victim and bring her up. She was rushed to Ellenville Regional Hospital in Ulster County. Doctors there pronounced her dead. Police say they are investigating the fall, but do not suspect anything suspicious.
