Best holiday movies to watch at home

It’s a cozy time of the year and what’s better than sitting by the fireplace with a warm Christmas blanket, a cup of hot cocoa, and the perfect Christmas movie to ring in the holiday? Whether it’s a classic or a newly premiered movie, it’s never to late to watch Santa on a sleigh or witness an 8-year-old get left behind on his families vacation to Paris.

Here are five movies that will ring in the Christmas spirit.

Home Alone (1990)

Oh, a classic. Macaulay Culkin playing Kevin, an 8-year old boy act outs the night before a family vacation to Paris and is sent to the attic to sleep for the night. However, his family accidentally (yes, accidentally!) left him behind as they were rambling to get in the taxi on time to catch their flight. But, for Kevin this is all he’s ever wanted and more! A whole house to himself. (Not for long, though.)

Kevin is confronted by evil burglars and now has a new objective: protecting his family’s house.

It’s a Wonderful Life

When George Bailey wishes aloud that he had never been born, an angel appears to show him exactly how life would be without him.

Elf (2003)

How did Buddy (played by Will Ferrell) get transported to the North Pole and raised by Santa’s elves? Oh, it’s a mystery! Now, Buddy is on a mission to find his real dad – Walter Hobbs – in New York City. But, things don’t turn out as well. Walter is on the naughty list. What happens then?

Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

Drunken Santa Claus in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade now has a replacement – Kris Kringle. Kris Kringle is then ambushed with love until he starts going around town claiming he is the real deal. Once institutionalized as insane, a lawyer defends him by arguing in court that he is, in fact, real.

A Christmas Story (1983)

A Red Ryder BB gun really does sound like the perfect Christmas gift, at least for young boy Ralphie it does. Ralphie attempts numerous times (and fails) to convince his parents, his teacher and Santa that that would be the ideal gift to receive.
