The skies will be packed in and around NYC.
(New York, NY) – It may well be the most wonderful time of the year, but it’s also one of the most busy for air travel. In fact, Triple-A says Thursday and Friday, with Christmas coming on Monday, will be among the year’s two busiest air travel days. And that means long lines at TSA checkpoints and baggage checks at JFK Airport, LaGuardia, and Newark Liberty Airports.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey also predict heavy volume at the three major airports. But Triple-A takes it a step further, predicting records will be set. The travel agency expects air travel to be up 2.2% over last year’s holiday travel period — which was the second-highest on record.
In addition to the many people making their way to the airports to hit the skies, other factors could cause travelers headaches this weekend. The Port Authority notes ongoing construction at JFK will cause delays and some motorists, taxis, and rideshares could end up being re-routed.
