(Hammonton, NJ) — A pilot and a photographer are dead after their ABC-TV news chopper crashed in South Jersey last night. The Action News Philadelphia helicopter went down in Wharton State Park around 8 p.m. The crew members killed have been working as part of the Action News team for years. New Jersey State Police say they the helicopter and a debris field were found around midnight near Mullica River Road. The FAA and NTSB are headed to the scene to figure out what brought down the helicopter.
News anchors at Action News struggled to tell viewers this morning about the accident. saying the two killed were loved in the newsroom.
