(Tel Aviv, Israel) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says it’s “the beginning of the end” for Hamas. In a video message released Sunday, Netanyahu says many Hamas militants have surrendered over the last few weeks as Israel pounds their tunnels and hideouts in Gaza.  Netanyahu says it will take more time to finish the job, but he is confident Hamas is about to be eliminated.

Some of the Israeli families with loved ones still being held hostage in Gaza are in New York today. They are hoping to convince world leaders to help get them freed. Yair Moses says he is still holding out hope his 79-year-old dad will be freed. He was kidnapped along with his wife from Israel back on October 7th. His wife was freed back in November. Qatar’s prime minister, who has been instrumental in negotiating the freedom of the hostages says he ‘s not confident more will be released anytime soon.
