(New York, NY) – The seven-day ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas has ended. Both rocket attacks coming from Gaza and airstrikes launched by the IDF have now been reported, following a week of hostage and prisoner exchange. Now, a new report suggests Israeli authorities may have had advance knowledge of Hamas’ October 7 attack plan.

According to the New York Times, Israeli officials reviewed the attack plan around one year ago. While the report doesn’t suggest the IDF ignored it entirely — there may have been an expectation that the attack was beyond Hamas’ capabilities. Thousands died as a result of Hamas October attack. And it launched a new, bloody war between both sides.

Between 130 and 140 hostages remain in Hamas custody in Gaza, according to reported estimates. As the temporary truce ends, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has renewed his vow to destroy Hamas completed. During the seven-day pause in fighting, Hamas released 80 hostages, while Israel freed 240 Palestinian prisoners.
