Hate crime charges for New Yorkers ripping down hostage posters

syndication-arizona-republic-54

(Bronx, NY) — Two Yonkers women are facing hate crime charges for taking down posters of hostages being held by Hamas and going after a woman who tried stopping them in Manhattan. The incident took place near 82nd Street and Riverside Drive on the Upper West Side of Manhattan earlier this month. Police say the two women ripped a Star of David necklace off a woman and damaged her phone after she yelled at them for taking down the posters. Mehwish Omer turned herself into police yesterday and Stephanie Gonzalez was arrested last week.  The victim is nursing minor injuries to her face and neck, but refused further medical treatment at the scene.
