(Plains, GA) — Washington, DC) — President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are set to attend a tribute service today in Georgia for late former Lady First Lady Rosalynn Carter. Also on hand will be former President Jimmy Carter, her husband of 77 years. Carter’s attendance comes despite him being in hospice care. The formal funeral will take place tomorrow.

Rosalynn Carter’s remains were placed in a hearse Monday morning in the Carters’ native Sumter County, Georgia. After brief ceremonies there, the family’s motorcade began the trip to Atlanta. Rosalynn Carter will lie in repose there at The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum. Two funerals are set for Tuesday in Atlanta and Wednesday in the Carters’ hometown of Plains. Both are for invited guests. Rosalynn Carter’s burial is private.
