Hamas protest, Manhattan Bridge
(New York, NY) – After upward of 500 people blocked traffic along the Manhattan Bridge on Sunday — as part of a Pro-Palestine protest — just three people were arrested, according to the NYPD. It started Sunday afternoon around 1:30 PM and eventually blocked traffic for hours — on one of the busiest travel days of the year.
The gathering was one of many protests that have unfolded in New York City since Hamas’ launched terrorist attacks on October 7th — triggering a military response from Israel that some have criticized as heavy-handed or worse. Protesters demanded the Biden administration stop funding Israel’s war effort and also called for an extended cease-fire. A large number sat at the foot of the bridge on the Manhattan side — blocking traffic.
