Niagara explosion
(New York, NY) – A massive law enforcement response has descended on the US-Canada border near Niagara Falls, and two people are dead, after a car exploded on the Rainbow Bridge. Reports have been fast-changing in terms of the vehicle in question’s original route, as at one point it was believed the car was headed from Canada into the US — but now it appears the vehicle entered the bridge area from New York, and never made it across the span.
At one point, per witness accounts, the car rapidly accelerated and then exploded. The two fatalities are reportedly the people who had been inside the car. New York Governor Kathy Hochul is headed to the scene. Multiple news outlets including Fox News have referred to the incident as an attempted terrorist attack, and the car was reportedly loaded with a significant amount of explosives.
The FBI describes the situation as fluid and the Rainbow Bridge has been closed, as have other US-Canada border crossings.
