(Riverhead, NY) — Five people have been indicted for allegedly trying to smuggle fentanyl into the Suffolk County Correctional Facility. District Attorney Ray Tierney says the group sprayed fentanyl onto sheets of paper disguised as legal documents and counted on an unsuspecting defense attorney to deliver them. Two of the defendants are inmates at the jail and counted on one of their girlfriends and another inmate in Dutchess County to coordinate the scheme. If they were successful, County Sheriff Errol Toulon Jr. says roughly 20-thousand-dollars’ worth of fentanyl would have made it into the jail.
