NEW YORK , NY- New York City Mayor Eric Adams has released a short video on cutting the city budget, in an effort to close a seven billion dollar budget gap. Adams says the five percent budget cut across the board saves three billion dollars for the city.
The NYPD will impose a hiring freeze, which means the police force is expected to be reduced by four-thousand members by 2025,
The Sanitation department will not be spared by the budget axe either—with fewer cleaning programs and fewer curbside pickups.
Adams says the deficit is a result of spending billions of dollars on caring for migrants, in conjunction with COVID funding about to run out—and tax revenues falling off.
