As the military sets its sights on southern Gaza in its campaign to stamp out Hamas, key challenges loom. International patience for a protracted invasion has begun to wear thin. And with some 2 million displaced Gaza residents staying in crowded shelters in the south in dire conditions, a broad military offensive there could unleash a new humanitarian disaster during the cold, wet winter. Israel Palestinians What’s Next
(Tel Aviv, Israel) —  Hamas says it has agreed to a proposal for the release of at least 50 women and children who have been held in Gaza since October 7th. Israel would have to agree to pause it’s war against Hamas for at least three days, allow more humanitarian aid into Gaza, and release some Palestinian women and children being held in Israeli prisons. Israel has not commented on the proposal. Israel says one of the hostages held in Gaza, a nine-month-pregnant woman has likely given birth in captivity.
