(Haifa, Israel) — The U.S. is pushing for temporary pauses in the fighting between Israel and Hamas. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby would not confirm reports that the U.S. and Israel are considering a three-day pause in the war. He did say the administration is discussing the benefits of humanitarian pauses with allies, including getting aid into Gaza and securing the release of hostages held by Hamas. But the Biden administration is resistant to a full cease-fire, which Kirby said would only benefit the militant group at this time.
