Adams, White House, Washington DC
(New York, NY) – Mayor Eric Adams has canceled his trip to the White House in Washington, DC, which was scheduled in regards to the ongoing migrant crisis. With thousands of additional migrants arriving each month, and New York City already short on space, Adams has said the situation is reaching a tipping point. He’s warned that city residents will soon see migrants sleeping on streets.
Just this week, City Hall opened a makeshift migrant shelter at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, in partnership with the federal government. Also, the Adams administration is offering migrants a one-way plane ticket back home to wherever they traveled from. About 1 in 4 have accepted.
