WASHINGTON  New York Republican representative George Santos will remain in Congress—at least for the time being.

Santos survived a required a two thirds majority vote to expel him from the House in a vote Wednesday night.

He has been bombarded by many of his colleagues to resign.  The vote for expulsion failed 213-179.

Santos faces multiple criminal indictments for fraud, identity theft, and  lying about his personal background.
