road work and closures
(Brooklyn, NY) – Department of Transportation officials are urging motorists to avoid the Brooklyn Queens Expressway this weekend if possible due to planned construction work. DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez explains this is because repair work will include poured concrete, which needs time to dry and cure.
Beginning overnight Saturday, all Queens-bound lanes of the BQE will be closed, from the Atlantic Avenue entrance ramp and the Manhattan Bridge exit ramp. Meanwhile, Staten Island motorists may want to look into alternate options as well — Staten Island-bound lanes will be reduced to just one lane of traffic.
