WASHINGTON DC — Steve Scalise is pulling out of the race to become Speaker of the House. He announced at a conference meeting Thursday night he would be withdrawing, following meetings with his Republican colleagues. Scalise making the decision after it appeared he would not get the 217 member support in a floor vote. Again, conservatives playing a major role in appearing to block his path as they did in removing Kevin McCarthy as speaker.
