(Washington, D.C.) — Kentucky Republican Senator Mitch McConnell says whoever becomes the next speaker of the House should get rid of the motion to vacate, that pushed Kevin McCarthy out of the job. McConnell says that rule makes it tough for a House Speaker to govern. Ohio Congressmen Jim Jordan and Louisiana’s Steve Scalise both say they would like to be the next Speaker. Next week House members will pick their new leader.
