(Washington, D.C.) — New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez is expected to address his colleagues in the Democratic Caucus today, one day after pleading not guilty in Lower Manhattan to federal bribery charges. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has, so far resisted calls for Menendez to step down. The 69-year-old Menendez is accused of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, gold bars and gifts in exchange for using his influence to enrich three businessmen and improperly helping the government of Egypt.
