(New York, NY) — New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez pleaded not guilty to federal bribery charges in a Lower Manhattan courtroom today. Prosecutors says Menendez and his wife took in hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, gold bars and gifts in bribes to help three businessmen and the government of Egypt. Menendez says he has done no wrong. Democrats, including New Jersey’s junior Senator, Cory Booker have called on the 69-year-old Menendez to step down. He says he will stay on in the Senate as he fights off the charges against him.
